I'm trying to go one step beyond and get a full time job in the industry. I
have been teaching HS physics for the past 14 years. I started with a
bachelors in physics (no education classes at all) and went back after a few
years, still teaching full time, and earned a masters (thesis) in physics. I
agree with pretty much all John has said. If I were starting my own school I
would look for people who had degrees in the field in which they intended to
teach, and who were passionate both about the subject and students getting it.

After 14 years I am ready to apply my physics skills to real problems and
have reason to hope that this might be my last year in the classroom, at least
for a while.
