possibly related to "performance anxiety" amongst professional  
musicians and athletes and folk trying to prepare for careers as  
professional musicians and athletes.  There is some literature on  
performance anxiety, and much advice (focus on your breathing; stay in  
the moment etc for brass players) written for students in such fields.
