There are absorption bands for I2 in the visible region also in between5500
to 5000 Angstroms.

Put some Iodine in a glass tube. At the ends fix quartz windows with
sealing wax. Allow light of an ultraviolet source to pass through the length
of the tube and fall on the slit of a spectrograph applying gentle heat to
the tube to vapourise iodine. Photograph the spectrum.
