Re: [Phys-l] Scientists speaking outsidetheirfields.Was...

Yes, Peiser has his detractors also. However, since everyone seems to attack him
for trying to duplicate a 'scientific' study, why is Oreskes off scott free? He
posted his results along with his methodology and all who care can replicate
the database results. Oreskes' results simply don't add up, but she's getting
credit for 'proving' the consensus. Worse, her results have been used in
countless media releases that continue the consensus mantra.

On a side note, you may be aware of a new study appearing in Nature today that
indicates hurricane frequency and severity are not linked to ocean temps and
global warming as is touted highly by the media. It is most interesting to see
the different angles used by different media outlets. From Discovery Channel
news, the title is "Hurricanes Complicated by Warming" whereas from CNN the
title is "Killer Hurricanes Thrived in Cooler Seas". Of course, once we
actually read the Nature paper, it probably doesn't say either of these...

The NOAA has put out several conflicting studies over the past several years on
this topic claiming both a multi-decadal pattern not influenced by global
warming and the doom and gloom of global warming forcing the hurricane issue.

By the way, I love your work in Out-Laws, John.
