[Phys-l] Physics Teacher opening

Please note the following Faculty opening:

ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OF PHYSICS

The science division invites applicants for a one year, temporary full-time
position in physics at the assistant/associate professor rank beginning
September 1, 2007. A PhD in an appropriate area of physics is preferred; a
master’s degree is required. At least three years of full-time college teaching
experience is preferred. Applicants should have the appropriate knowledge and
training in physics, as well as a working knowledge of the technology and
instrumentation used in scientific investigations.

The successful candidate will teach both general and applied physics courses
with an ability to use up-to-date teaching methods. Teaching obligations will
include a minimum of 30 credit hours per year which normally involves complete
responsibility for two or three courses per semester, including two to three
laboratory sections. Other responsibilities include outcomes assessment,
serving on college committees, student advisement, and other such duties.
Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate a commitment to the
community college philosophy; are familiar with the use of technology in the
classroom; have excellent interpersonal skills; and are willing to work in a
collegial setting within the science division.

Placement on the salary scale reflects individual degrees and experience. The
minimum salary is $37,500 and is complemented by an excellent benefits package.
