It is considered important to hide one's grip on the ball from the batter.
Knowing the grip on the ball could give the batter foreknowledge of the pitch to come.
My batting skills were never so good.

OK, squinting seems reasonable, but why do some pitchers bend over
with the ball behind their back/butt -- This seems so goofy -- Of
course the whole game seems goofy to me -- Which is worse, baseball or golf?
