Re: [Phys-l] Jackson County Show and a Better Mousetrap

I've known about the preference for peanut butter for a long time. We had an interesting experience last month with a mouse. It apparently got in while we were gone for the weekend, so had free run of the kitchen for a few days. It got into a drawer and ate the dried berries, dried apricots, raisins, lentils, dark chocolate and barley, but didn't even try to get into any of the "prepared foods" in the same drawer: jello, pudding, marshmallows, chocolate chips, snack crackers, etc. Smart mouse, at least until I put the sticky trap in the drawer.

I went to preview the County show exhibits last evening.
I find the grain jars, dry country alfalfa flakes, embroidery,
artwork, photos, and experimental trifold exhibits pleasing.
Last night, I learned a new experimental result and I was
truly encouraged.

The question? What foods do mice prefer.

I read from this poster display that in twenty five paired
presentations, a set of newly purchased pet mice chose items
like peanut butter, tootsie roll, cinnamon bun, etc., in
twenty two cases in preference to cheese.

Wonderful!
