There are texts which achieve symmetry by introducing a factor of 1/SQRT(N) in both the forward and the inverse DFT. This seems to be even more symmetric than your introduction of two different factors : dt in the forward DFT, and df in the inverse DFT. Since df*dt = 1/N, do you see any problem with this fix?
