[Phys-l] Laboratory Lecturer Position at Swarthmore College




The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Swarthmore College
anticipates filling the position of Laboratory Lecturer beginning in
late August, 2006. This person, along with the other Laboratory
Lecturer in the department, is responsible for

(1) helping to build and troubleshoot instrumentation for the teaching
lab and for demonstration purposes
(2) teaching some laboratory sessions
(3) ordering, maintaining, and setting up equipment and
(4) working with faculty in the development of new experiments.

The duration of > employment is for nine months out of the year, with
the possibility of
some additional employment during the summer for development work in
order to keep our laboratory program strong and innovative. A degree
in physics or a related field is required and a masters degree is
preferred. Experience in astronomy and the ability to lead students
in observing with telescopes is a plus. A letter of application with a
resume and three letters of recommendation should be sent as soon as
possible.
