Under some conditions, the phys-l mailer formats the outgoing message
as a multipart MIME message.
-- The first part is the message from the phys-l member.
-- The second part is 4 lines long and is the mailer's byline.
In many mail-readers, you will see the second part classified as
an attachment.

If you're running a Microsoft mail-reader, this is sort of a catch-22
situation. You see an attachment. You don't know it's harmless
unless/until you open it, but you dare not open it unless/until
you already know it's harmless. Hmmmmm.
The only solution is to run software that doesn't have so many
security holes. This includes the mail-reader software as well
as the operating system.
