This comment about "all babies" was unworthy of the
  standard of James's other contributions to this thread.

Of COURSE some babies get health care - prospectively
  and post-natally.   The scandal of this most self-confidently
modern country is that many children, possibly 20% of the
new-born, do not get the health care that would put the
mortality rates for children under 5 on a par with most
any European country - like Spain or France, or Australia,
  New Zealand and most any other first world economy.

The other stray comment I read earlier -  that unhealthy,
  impoverished American children are the result of lazy parents -
is so in error that I can only ask:
"Are there no lazy parents in Europe then?"
