[Phys-L] Re: Excel substitute

OTOH, there is quite a lot to be said about everyone using the same
software, at home and at school. The student version of Microsoft Office
2003 is readily available for under $100--that is, about the price of a
typical textbook. The software will be much more useful (well at least will
be used a lot more) than the textbooks. So, I for one, see nothing amiss
with expecting students to use Excel if that is the campus software.

Rick (teaching where $100 is at the low end of a monthly telephone bill for
most students!)

Open Office isn't great on a Mac. I prefer NeoOffice / J (A Java
version of star office basically).

see: http://www.planamesa.com/neojava/en/index.php
