[Phys-L] Re: Moving Ramp Launching Snowboarder

Not that much pron on that site all though some content is NSFW; mostly
fools doing foolish things. The content of the clip is not any more
extreme than what can be seen on the TV show "America's Funniest
Videos" or MTV's "Jackass".

To download a media clip like this call up the page source and search
for the appropriate media tag (in this case the file is windows media
format so search for wmv) to find the direct http link to the file.
Only the really sophisticated sites hide material on second servers
through php links.

In Safari, I can drag that link to the downloads window and Safari
takes care of the rest - not quite sure how to do it in windoze and I
have no machine on which to experiment.

To get from wmv to quicktime (mov) and edit out the site promo takes a
bit more work and some software - feel free to email me off list.

Scott

PS
I got to this site by reference from one of my students. He had
questions and thought the clip would be interesting with regards to
class. I download the clip so I DO NOT have to call the site on the
main projector. Like it or not, kids are going to sites like this and
seeing this stuff. I believe they need education not insulation. It
used to be I would only have to keep current on a few bad movies to be
conversant in class; now I have to surf a few link sites too.

Nice clip of a car with ramp mounted to it riding up to a snowboarder
at rest and launching him over the car.

I wonder how many of my students will be able to predict the final
direction of the snowboarder after the collision.

Let me know if you cannot figure out how to capture the clip and want
to.

Scott
