It's been raining off and on here in New Jersey. Last night I heard
relatively loud thunder but did not see any lightning. I know how each
occurs, but is there any way to have lighting without thunder, or thunder
without lightning? I imagine if the charge is low, there might not be
enough sound produced to audibly hear. Or if thunder is produced, the
spark might be deep in the clouds and invisible to us. This seems simple
to me, but I always wonder.
