I agree with all that John Denker says. My comment about the windshield
possibly saving the driver has only to do with percussion... nothing to
do with electric fields. So yes, the Faraday cage effect reduced the
electric fields the driver might have otherwise experienced, and the
windsheild reduced any percussive effect the driver might have
experienced from a nearby strike. Either one, electric fields or
percussion, can cause a heart attack.
