The camera is named after the Polaroid Corp. Which took its name after
the Land invention of sheet polarization film.

He could have just as easily named it the Land camera.

I believe he did ... I recall advertising for the "Polaroid Land Camera"
(I guess I'm telling my age with that recollection!)
