Just for fun; what better reason to do Physics? I replaced an
incubation thermometer's alcohol w/ water and placed in front of that
hot bed of coals (distance ~ 1.5 * width of coals -- ~ a line source).
Very ~ I obtained ten kiloWatts / square meter flux. Does this sound
"right". A skim of Hdbh of Military IR Technology indicates good
absorption by the ~ 3.5 cm cube of water in the plastic container. I
assumed the SH of the plastic and thermometer ~ 0.4.

I see bc is working valiantly to draw one in with the multifarious
coefficients of thermal conductivity, thermal capacity, relative convective
dynamics due to the thermal expansivity of oil vs water.

But I will not be drawn.
