[Physltest] [Phys-L] Re: Political (Military) - Ender's Game

Ender's Game's sequel, Speaker for the Dead, sold very well. So did the
other 7 books in that universe. There are curriculum guides available at
http://www.hatrack.com/research/teachers/

In groups of gifted and talented students and educators this series is
often considered a must read, although it's acknowledged that the last
couple books in the original Ender series aren't as good.

Ender's Game is one of those books that resonants in some people.

Cheers,
Pamela

That's like "Birth of a Nation" followed by "Intolerance".

bc, who wonders if the sequel sold as poorly as did Intolerance.

Yes, but the author wrote a sequel in which the hero undoes his xenocide by
developing empathy for the aliens and reviving the almost lost race!

"Ender's Game" by Orson Scott Card developed from an Analog short story
published in 1977, and has a similar theme (only the kids play games to
learn to destroy an alien race).

So BC--computer games are an alien conspiracy? Let's chalk up another one!

p.s. A sci-fi. film's, a few decades ago, plot was an alien power

placed

games in small towns. The winners were abducted to pilot their
fighters. This was at a time the military had begun using games as
training.

I believe the film was "The Last Starfighter" -
