Is this political statement?

The New York Times does not permit its columnists to make
presidential endorsements. Similarly, phys-l discourages political
statements of any kind.

elliptical orbit? [Not certain JD's NASA reference includes, tho
implied, this.

The ellipticity of Earth's orbit should be expected to produce a
small variation in the AMPLITUDE of the semi-diurnal and diurnal
variations due to the sun and, of course, in their periods as well.
