and I used photo magenta and photo cyan and got black. regular yell
and photo cyan; green. the former on paper and in a phial diluted w/
water; ~ one drop each. When viewed w/ sun as light source it's a blu.

Actually, I have done the experiment, but I admit that I have not done it
recently. As per the ongoing discussion, the physics will differ
considerably depending on whether you're using oil paints, water colors,
printer dyes, crayons (remember crayons?), colored chalk, pastels, color
filters, computer programs, or mixing colored powders such as those used in
sand art.

That's a nice theory. But have you done the experiment?

Vickie probably did a pigment mix years ago.
But then again, I did a pigment mix 2 minutes ago.

From a set of kid's acrylics, I took a brushful of green
(there was only one green) and a brushful of blue
(there was only one blue) and I mixed them on
brilliant white cartridge paper taken from my printer.
And I got a color that I used to call 'turquoise'.
Not exactly cyan, I don't think but far, far from black.

:-)
