Does ASU have online courses for HS chemistry and physics teachers? This
type of program would be of great help
to some of us that have difficulty getting away. I teach at a charter
school w/approx 210 students and we wear many hats, so time is of the
essence.

No, ASU doesn't.

However, the NSTA lists two sources: NTEN and the University of Maryland
(for chemistry, but not physics). Visit
<http://www.nsta.org> and click on "professional info". Then click on "NSTA
Institute".

I encourage you to forward this note to other science teachers in your
school. Spread the word, so that they'll benefit.

1) NTEN.
The NTEN Mission: Professional Development
K-12 Science Teachers Delivered Via The Internet
Created by Montana State University - Bozeman and funded by the
National Science Foundation, the National Teachers Enhancement
Network (NTEN) delivers quality teaching resources and professional
development opportunities through the Internet directly to K-12 science
teachers. Educators access electronic teacher resources, discuss issues with
other educators online, and participate in high-quality graduate
telecomputing courses, all from convenient home or work locations via
the Internet. University scientists, engineers, mathematicians, and
science educators teach NTEN's graduate courses. NTEN also enhances
professional networking nationwide among science teachers and active
research scientists.

2) University of Maryland Life Sciences Program:
The University of Maryland offers online courses in biology and chemistry
especially designed for science teachers. Or take advantage of The Master
of Life Sciences program that enables practicing science teachers to pursue
a 30-credit interdisciplinary graduate degree in life sciences with
concentration options in biology and chemistry. The Web-based program
allows you to earn your graduate degree when and where it is most
convenient for you. For more
