Belittlement may work in sports, but I don't think it works in
education. It was the below that got one instructor fired (not rehired
*), as I earlier wrote. Of course he did more; including invidious
comparisons with Berkeley students. Of course we weren't hot shot UCB
students; we were at what was then podunk U.

* One tenured Prof. told me later no UC Physics dept. would hire him.


I don't remember ever hearing an instructor say that. My attitude is,
if a student has trouble with it, it's not easy or trivial (PIC).
