Re: blackbody radiation

Question to Justin Parke... Are the the lasers in your second box aimed
at the hole, or are they aimed randomly so the light has to bounce
around inside the box before getting out?

If the lasers are aimed at the hole, then the box doesn't do anything;
i.e. it has no significance. The box just surrounds the space the laser
beams pass through.

If the lasers are randomly oriented in the box and the light has to
interact with the box many times before getting out, then the light
coming out will not be the BB-radiation the lasers are tuned to mimick
because the walls will be absorbing the light. If the laser power is
high enough and/or the box is insulated enough, the light coming out the
hole will become the desired BB-radiation profile once the box has
heated to the temperature the lasers have been set to mimick.
