WIMPS:was Photons in other dimensions

I first heard about WIMPS at the Dirac Symposium
( http://www.physics.fsu.edu/DiracSymposium/ . Click on "Program."),
probably in the talk by A. Linde -- .

Andrei Linde (1) may have discussed WIMPS, since they are relevant to
his field of inflationary cosmology, but a further search of the Dirac
Symposium talks shows that they were mentioned by Jonathan Bagger in his
slide presentation, "Beyond Dirac: Particle Physics in the 21st
Century," http://www.physics.fsu.edu/DiracSymposium/Talks/Bagger.pdf .
WIMPS and the possibility of their detection in underground experiments
and their poduction at the TEV level in particle accelerators is
outlined on pp. 50-52 of the slide presentation. He states that a linear
collider would be ideal. Dr. Bagger's lengthy slide presentation gives
an interesting overview of what has to be done in particle physics
during the next twenty years. Undergound experiments to detect WIMPS are
already underway.(2)

(1) http://physics.stanford.edu/linde/ Dr. Linde's web site includes a
reference to his Scientific American article, "The Self-Reproducing
Universe" and a link to John Gribbin's "Cosmology for Beginners" which
discusses inflation and WIMPS. There are some neat video clips on Dr.
Linde's web site.

several online articles about underground WIMP detection.
