Re: low temperature physics



The intro. text by Eisberg and Lerner devotes several pages to "heat"
pumps, refrigerators, and engines, in particular, including a diagram of
atomic isothermal magnetization and adiabatic demagnetization. (nuclear
is mentioned, including 10^-6 deg. K achievable). They relate the
process to the Carnot cycle diagram. I post this because I think this
text belongs in teacher's reference libraries. Because it is an intro
book the phase diagram for He is not included.

The advantage of E&L over LW's references is they include diagrams.
