Re: Physics lab and lecture grade

Our intro lab used to support multiple courses ... algebra-trig based physics, calculus-based physics, and even a meteorology course (so done to make the weather course satisfy a collegiate lab science requirement). Accordingly, we deliberately made the lab specifically about measurement and analysis and how to write clearly about data and conclusions. I miss that.

On the other hand, we now integrate the lab with a single intro course (where we teach enough calculus to get the former algebra-trig students through) and the lab work is specifically designed to reinforce the theory side. I like it better, the students like it better, and they're learning more effectively.
