Gary may have had in mind a supersonic airfoil which can
be diamond shaped in cross section.

A subsonic airfoil is said to derive about 2/3 of its lift from
the upper surface, and 1/3 from its lower surface if the
suction/pressure acting on each of the upper and lower
surfaces is evaluated. That's the Bernoulli style description.

But the Newtonian notices that the lift force is accompanied
by a certain acceleration of air flowing obliquely downwards.
