Re: Finding information on the Internet

An example of unreliable info on the Net from a .gov domain is the final
version of the California Science Framework at :

<http://www.cde.ca.gov/cdepress/downloads.html>

In .pdf download part 6 of 7, paper page 267, one finds the following
statement:

"Teachers can also point out to students that the airflow past a bicycle
rider feels the same if the bicycle is still and the air is moving or vice
versa. An observer standing on Earth feels that the air is moving, even if
the relative motion arises because he or she and Earth are moving through
the air."

After the years of wrangling over the minutiae of this document, the
publication of such a statement ( "...Earth [is] moving through the air.")
tells us more about the editors and readers of the publication than about
Galileian relativity of motion.

Sadly, this particular Net resource is self-styled as the model for
others, depending solely on the "authority" of its authors for legitimacy.
