Re: Lazy?

If one's administration subverts one's instruction, then fight it--through
the local structure (faculty senate, or the like), the AAUP (American
Association of University Professors)--or consider if you want to _work_ at
such an institution--because it would seem that one is not being allowed to
do so.

If one is taking a beating on evaluations because of 'fair assignments'
[reasonable number and difficulty] and if the assignments are really part of
one's pedagogical approach (not just busy work) this should be easily
defensible with administration. If it is not, again the problem is the
administration and an unreasonable approach to evaluations.

It appears that at some institutions one must ultimately decide whether to
be an effective educator or a 'popular' teacher. The first choice might not
be possible at a particular school. ;-(

Except for students who are in situations similar to what Tina faces: the
students do not have to exactly face the consequences, they have
alternatives through the route of a Dean or a Dept. Head; or student
evalutations, etc.
