Re: Lazy?

Herb and Joel both make good, but somewhat contradictory, comments. Of
course the web is a fantantic resource and should be used. Yet, a
google search is not exhaustive.

I want students to use the web. But they have a tendency to stop there.
Sometimes that's okay. Other times they stop with something that is
unreliable or incomplete. Other times they stop with nothing and assume
"it doesn't exist because google didn't find it."

I used to get reference librarian help to do searches. The librarians
were very helpful for finding new rocks to overturn, and for evaluating
sources. Now that students are searching without the aid of
professional librarians, who is teaching them about resources and
authorities?
