California State University, Fullerton, Department of Physics is seeking applicants for a full-time position at the Assistant Professor level beginning in August 2003. Position
The Department offers both B.S. and M.S. degrees in Physics and is seeking an experimental physicist with research specialties in AMO physics or in the optical properties of condensed matter . The new faculty member will be expected to initiate a research program involving undergraduate as well as M.S. graduate students. Currently, the primary research focus of the experimental programs in the department is electron scattering, fiber optics and photonics, and astronomy. The department also has active theoretical programs in AMO physics, quantum and fiber optics. The successful candidate is expected to pursue extramural funding to support his/her research interests.
Qualifications
The successful applicant must have a Ph.D. in physics and research interests in experimental AMO physics or optical properties of materials. Postdoctoral experience is preferred. Candidates must also demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and be willing to contribute to the department's laboratory curriculum development at all levels.
Rank and Salary
The position is at the rank of Assistant Professor, tenure-track. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. An excellent comprehensive benefits package is available.
