bicycle generator

I just noticed a new entry in AMerican Sci. & Surplus:

permanent magnet motor, 120V DC, 14 amps, 2HP, $39, from a treadmill
http://sciplus.com/category.cfm?subsection=18&category=174

That should work great as a generator, and if used on a "bicycle
generator" it should nicely run a light bulb or other 120V device. I once
saw a similar motor for $20, but the typical surplus price seems to be
more like $50 and above.

These are also highly prized as wind power generators.
