I found this quite wonderful quote by Rachel Caseon in her 1956 book The
Sense of Wonder, p. 45:
"It is more important to pave the way for the child to want to know than
to put him on a diet of facts he is not ready to assimilate. "
I find this quote interesting because I believe that every teacher is
probably quite in accord with this quote. But, I wonder how much an
educational administrator would agree. The double sided shield of
education on which it appears far too often that the educator is on one
side and education administration on the other are, I'm afraid, often at
odds as to what is best for the student.
