She asked if light and heat were the same thing since they were both energy. Light energy would be like a photon and heat is internal energy.

"Heat" is but one of several *processes* by which energy is transferred into or out of a system. Other processes are work and radiation.

Unfortunately, the terms *heat* and *radiation* are incorrectly used as synonyms for *energy*.

"Light" is energy carried by electromagnetic waves.
