Re: Electricity costs

It took a little searching, but try this:

http://www.utilityconnection.com/page6a.html#Utility_Rates

A general search on Utility Rates will turn up some other locations.

Subject: Electricity costs

One of the activities I have my physics students do is to calculate the
cost
of electricity for running certain appliances. I fill my room with
appliances and have them walk around and read the backs to the appliances
to
cull the necessary information. I make available a watt meter for part two
of the lab where they turn on the appliances to see how the written
numbers
compare to actual usage. They then calculate the cost running these
appliances. Here is where I need you help...

What is the billed cost of electricity in your area and what area are
reporting? I found some information on the web -but not much.

Thanks in advance for the help,
-Tony

FYI In Charlottesville, Virginia, the 2002 rates are
May-Sept $0.045/kWh
Oct-April $0.0317/kWh
Year Average $0.0375/kWh
