I think a good case can be made for it having ended, there not being
substantial recession of the permanent northern ice pack during the 20th
century. OTOH, the land mass in eastern Canada and the northern US is
still undergoing isostatic rebound from its depression by the weight of
the ice pack thousands of years ago. I'm a bit out of touch with the
exact figures, and I hope this is not just a memorism: I believe the
terrain of the northeastern Lake Superior basin rose nearly two feet
during the 20th century.
