Re: Gravity bike

Back to the discussion on the bike -

It's a really good idea, but something is setting off alarms. There must
be something else happening besides simple centrifuge effects. Adding a VR
camera will not correct the dizziness, because some of the dizziness is
caused by physical effects, not optical effects.

The problem is (as I understand it) that if the inner ear feels a
differential acceleration, it contributes to nausea; this is not easy to
correct. The reason the space station is not rotating is that to build
something large enough so that the differential acceleration would not be
noticeable would be too expensive. The current space station is nowhere
near large enough to support a 1-g rotation without this effect.

I suppose one option would be to have your head at the outside of the
circle - that would minimize the effect, but I don't see how that would
help with muscle tone in the major muscle groups - gravity would be going
the wrong way.

Any ideas?
