In high-school, our electronics teacher had two spots painted on a
long strip of card-board. It was his tera-ohm resistor! :)
LOL! I've done that. Also thumb tacks in a 2x4. It varies greatly with
humidity though. For making custom resistors, draw a line of india ink on
a plastic surface, let dry, then cover it with tape. For really high
resistance, use diluted ink.
