When did celestial navigation begin?
How did the desert nomads navigate years ago?
And ocean mariners?
How was it done in the 1000BC--1000AD time period?
When was a "North Star" considered to exist and begin to be helpful?
NB Polaris has a declination of <89deg currently but at that time its
declination varied from ~75deg in 600BC to 81deg in 400AD.
The previous North Star was Thuban >>2000BC.
Is my data correct?
Comments???
