Re: Mathematical name of curved triangle

I've received two requests for copies of that photo'; coincidentally I purchased the "perfect" scanner (scans large format diapositive in addition to the usual), so I sent them attachments. If there is enuff. interest and a volunteer to page them ,I'll send it. I can also scan the photo's of teaching apparatuses from the Patrice Lumumba U.

P.s. I'll ask my Russian friend your question.

This thread reminds me of the wheels on a dolly used to carry loads up (and
down)
stairs. I took a photo' of one in use in the Kremlin when the statues of
Marxand Lenin were still in the park overlooking the Moscow river ('90). I
haven't
seen one since. The wheel is three wheels mounted on a fourth larger wheel
that
is on the axle of the dolly.

If you watch Junkyard Wars on the cable channel TLC, you have also seen this on the "Mega Junkyard Wars" competition between a US team, a UK team, and a team from Russia. The Russian team attempted to build such a device to help their amphibious vehicle climb over rocky terrain. They eventually abandoned this plan, but they may have been inspired by the device you mention. Does anyone know if they are common in Russia?
