Re: Historical material

An article relevant to the use of historical material to teach science and
the process of science is:
http://www.educ.sfu.ca/narstsite/conference/dawkinsvitale/dawkinsvitale.html

This also contains a number of valuable references. The NARST website
contains a number of good papers that relate to teaching physics, although
most are not specifically physics oriented. Since the discussion has mainly
been around what teachers feel works, perhaps some hard evidence could be
brought forward. Remember that doctors used to routinely use leeches until
they learned to do hard research. Now leeches have been found to be
beneficial for a small number of problems, but most prior uses were found to
be detrimental.
