Yes, and if/when you decide to partition the energy into PE and KE,
there is a certain amount of arbitrariness! For example, in an LC circuit,
you
get to decide what canonical coordinate to use;
-- one choice makes the inductor the repository of kinetic energy, while
-- another choice makes the capacitor the repository of kinetic energy.
