Re: Physics Tests

H.S. Geometry different?

When I did a long term sub. the, the Math. Chair recommended 1:2

bc

P.s. obviously this demands a personal study. Try doing every test and
compare to how long the students take. Unfortunately, I couldn't do
this, as I "created" the tests. In those cases, the ratio is reversed!
For Materials Tech. closer to 3:1 not including the "cut and paste",
etc. I would use the ratio for those that get ~ C+, if you give D's and
~ 5% F's, for following tests.

I didn't use a ratio for Chem. -- Always 2/3 => 3/4 would finish them in
the required classes. The elective class, all finished and some left
early (same test).

There is a rule of thumb to determine whether a test is too
long for a certain time period. Solve each problem of the
test with complete procedure, all the details, and without
rush. If it takes you 15 minutes to answer the test,
students should solve it in about 60 minutes to solve it. A
different source told me once that the ratio is about 1:5.

I have used throughout my carreer a 1:3 ratio. Has been
very effective for me, but I do teach at the high school
level.
