Re: Physics education

For those who don't get Physics Today, the article on K-8 science education
is on line at:
http://www.aip.org/pt/vol-54/iss-9/p44.html

Another relevant article on involving scientists in K-8 science education is
at:
http://www.aps.org/units/fed/summer2001/schultz.html

Additional information about the Teacher Scientist Alliance program of the
American Physical Society is at:
http://www.aps.org/educ/program.html

As a participant in essentially all aspects of the Teacher Scientist
Alliance program, I highly recommend it. As a direct result of this
program, San Diego now has a large number of K-6 districts using hands-on
inquiry based science programs with materials distribution centers; an NSF
grant (GK-12 program) to involve graduate and undergraduate science majors
in K-6 science education (http://www.sdsa.org/pisces/index.html), and the
adoption of a physics first approach for San Diego City Schools.

Subject: Physics education

You have probably seen the article in Physics Today, but take a look at
the latest science. There is a section on K-12 education with a nice
article about physics education from PSSC to the present.
