Re: Physics2000

I"ve had the disk for about a year now, the text actually looks like a
reasonably Garden variety introductory text to me. Some modern topics are
introduced earlier than normal, but a teacher who is quite used to teaching
a standard classical course would feel at home with this text.

I think the major innovation is the cheap alternative to a thick heavy text.

The "Announcer" that just arrived has an ad for a new physics course
"designed to include twentieth century physics throughout."
It comes on a
$10 CD. (Speaking of CDs, what do you think of the ThinkWell
project?)

More info about this calculus-based college level intro
physics course is
available at their website <http://www.physics2000.com/>.

What is the feeling of Phys-L about basing first year
university physics on
twentieth century physics rather than classical physics?

Thanks,
Larry
