Summer "Physics for First Year Teachers" course

A high school teacher posted to PHYSHARE today:
"We have a new Physics teacher in our department for next year who is looking
for some type of short term review course this summer. He is especially
interested in something in June. Does anyone out there know of such a
"Physics for First Year Teachers" course?"

YES! A Modeling Workshop provides excellent content remediation and/or
review. To review the entire first semester's content requires at least a 3
week workshop to do it justice, but even a shorter Modeling Workshop has
value.

Student teachers have told me that they learned more in their Modeling
Workshop than in all their physics courses. Many new teachers in Arizona
have taken our Modeling Workshop, and they say it's invaluable - not only
for content and methodology, but also for networking with experienced
teachers.

Below is the list of Modeling Workshops nationwide. Don't forget ours in
June! We can provide some financial support for teachers nationwide.
Cheers,

MODELING WORKSHOPS NATIONWIDE:
Fourteen Modeling Workshops in high school physics will be held this
summer. These peer-led workshops are 1 to 4 weeks long, and graduate credit
is available at most sites. Teachers are given model-centered course
materials in mechanics, and they rotate through roles of student and
instructor as they practice techniques of guided inquiry and cooperative
learning. Recently the U.S. Department of Education designated the Modeling
Instruction Program as an exemplary K-12 science education program. At most
workshops, in-state teachers receive financial support. For information,
visit http://modeling.asu.edu. Workshops that accept teachers beyond
commuting distance are:
