The ad below is still current, and applications continue to be invited.

It is possible that two visiting positions will be open for next year.

DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICS AND APPLIED OPTICS
ROSE-HULMAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY

The department of physics and applied optics anticipates a tenure track
position and a visiting position starting Fall 2001. A Ph.D. degree is
required. The appointments are expected to be made at the assistant
professor level, although appointments at higher rank may be possible for
exceptional candidates. The department offers B.S. degree in physics and
B.S. and M.S. in applied optics. The department has active research and
development programs in applied optics and participates in several
innovative curriculum experiments. The Center for Applied Optics Studies
provides exceptional opportunities for professional development and
interaction with industry. Outstanding teaching is the most significant
criterion for success at Rose-Hulman and vigorous professional development
is expected. The successful candidate will be expected to teach lower and
upper divisions of courses in physics and optics. Candidates with an
interest in guiding Masters thesis work in applied optics are encouraged to
apply. Send letter of interest, resume, and names of three references to:
Dr. Charles Joenathan, Chair, Department of Physics and Applied Optics,
Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, 5500 Wabash Avenue CM 169, Terre Haute,
IN 47803. Screening will begin first week of February 2001 and continue
