Regarding water heated in a microwave vs. water heated in a kettle:
The water heated in a microwave might have hot spots (temperature might
not be uniform throughout volume of water), and this might give a taste
difference.

Does anyone know of a reason (other than psychological) why water boiled
in
a tea kettle on a range might taste differently than water boiled in cup
