This is a friendly reminder about getting your entry ready for the AAPT Apparatus
Competition this summer in Rochester, N. Y.
Prizes are $100 each in the Low-Cost category ($65 or less to build), and up to 6
low-cost prizes may be awarded. In the Lecture Demo / Advanced Lab category the
prizes are 1st : $1000, 2nd : $600, and 3rd : $200.
Remember, you don't have to be present to win (and in San Antonio the $1000
winner was not present).
By May 1. Notify competition director (me) of your intention to enter the 2001
Apparatus Competition (this should be an email). Obtain an official application
packet containing selection criteria, rules of eligibility and judging, safety
guidelines, and competition requirements (via email or web site).
By June 1. All competition applications are due. The application includes an
abstract of the apparatus,
a brief article on the apparatus, and information on services required in
Rochester for display.
July 22: Apparatus Set-up in Rochester, 9 AM - 5 PM
July 22: Apparatus Competition Judging, 6-9 PM.
July 23-25: Apparatus viewing by meeting attendees
