tenure track position in Physics Education

Please notice the following vacancy.
UTB is a wonderful and exciting place were to do physics and physics education now!
 

The University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College
invites applications for a tenure track position in Physics Education.
The position is expected to be filled at the Assistant/Associate
Professor level, but exceptionally qualified candidates will be
considered at the Full Professor level as well.  Pending budget
considerations the University may have two openings in this area.
The position will be in the Physical Sciences department where research
programs are currently active in the field of gravitational physics,
biophysics and computational physics.  The candidate must hold a Ph.D.
in Physics/Physical Science Education and have a strong record of
research and activity in the field of Physics/Physical Science
education.  We seek an energetic individual with a strong commitment to
science education reform at all levels.  The University has embarked on
a strong partnership with area school districts.  The University and the
Brownsville Independent School District have received several
multimillion grants (USP, Kellog, etc.) to develop new resources in
science and math education in the area.  The University is also
interested in developing new courses in the physical sciences for
students in the education programs.  The successful candidate is
expected to be involved with a project to support science education reform in
the
district.  This project consists in a partnership between the
university, the school district and several community-based
organizations that will provide parental involvement, community support,
and in service teacher training to the district.  BISD has adopted the
FOSS curriculum which is kits based hands on curriculum in the sciences.

The University of Texas at Brownsville is the youngest and fastest
growing component of The University of Texas system.  Located in
Brownsville, on the Gulf of Mexico (at 20 miles from South Padre Island)
its campus is a few blocks away from the city of Matamoros, Mexico, just
across the Rio Grande.  Salary is competitive with experience.
